Module Flexibility to Suit You

We believe that you should be able to choose the learning path that truly suits you. Many of our students come to us looking to change their career and so, for them, gaining respected professional qualifications on a fast track path is a worthy goal. Other students, however, wish to come and learn a life skill in the form of holistic massage and so, for them, having a wonderful and enjoyable time is their main priority. Either is just fine with us! We do both!

Depending on your wishes, you might choose to do just the Introductory module in a single fun weekend, learn how to do a full body holistic massage by the end of the Foundation module in a further 2 weekends or decide to embark upon the adventure of the full training and the Practitioner Course module. But it doesn't stop here: only at the end of this practical training need you fully commit as to whether to enter our exam stream and so sit for either or both of two separate professional diploma qualifications.

Whilst we are more than happy to support and advise you at every step, how far you go and how fast is ultimately up to you.

Deciding on the Length of Your Course

You may take as long as two years to complete the whole course, but you must set aside at least nine months from beginning to end: whilst we are generally very easy-going in our approach to teaching adults and do our utmost to accommodate most of our students' scheduling issues, we are also very serious about upholding our exacting standards and, as with many of the best things in life, it simply takes time to become a first class holistic massage therapist!

Over the many years that we have been teaching this art form, we have come to realize that nine months' training is the minimum time it takes to achieve the high-level standards we come to expect and indeed see from generation after generation of Academy-trained students. Importantly, and still unfortunately all too rarely for complementary therapy training, we don't just prepare students to pass their exams - we prepare students to have the ability to become truly successful, highly-skilled and creative professionals with a long and inspiring career before them. There's a very big difference between the two approaches...

Preparing for Your Exams

Exams take place twice a year: in early summer and in late autumn. Some people do the course for their own benefit without taking the exams. Others finish the course and do the exams pretty much straight away and still others decide to have a break and do exams later. Again, we will do out utmost to support and advise you in your decision.

Personal supervisions will make sure that you feel really ready to take the next step on your personal massage journey: what we call an 'Intermediate Supervision' (that you take prior to embarking on the Practitioner Course) and then, later down the path, two specifically exam-oriented preparation sessions (listed above in the Course Date box as Supervisions 1 and 2) are an integral part of the one-on-one support that we offer at every step of your progress.

Additional Support

Furthermore, we also provide several additional opportunities that as a student you may choose to become involved in for ongoing supported practice and continued learning development. These create part of our student support infrastructure and run alongside the regular modules to complement and enhance our course curriculum.

They include our monthly cross-level Focus Evening Workshops, our programme of more specialized Intermediate and Postgraduate-level Workshops and also opportunities for Private Tuition and small group supervision work, tailored to meet your exact needs.

Whatever we do, and at whatever level, here at the Academy we go out of our way to emphasize the joy of learning holistic massage. Our years of experience tell us that this full-hearted approach produces excellent results, however you ultimately choose to use massage in your life.
