HEALING HEART CIRCLE WITH ACADEMY FOUNDER, ANJA SAUNDERS
The circle is at the heart of every Academy training course and workshop and now, for the first time, our founder, Anja Saunders will be hosting a monthly ceremonial circle in Neal’s Yard. This will be a regular chance to connect in a deep way with ourselves and others in a form of meeting which has been a healing tool since ancient times in many cultures. Sitting in circle on a regular basis enables us to take stock and connect with our heart as well as building trust and clarifying intent for healing.

OTHER ACADEMY EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS

FIRST ACADEMY RETREAT
A group of seven participants, along with Katya Langmuur, set off for India on 1 October for the first Academy Retreat. Mainly coming from our blossoming ANH spiritual community (from both kirtan and satsang groups), these intrepid souls are spending three and a half weeks visiting temples and ashrams connected with the Indian guru Neem Karoli Baba. This includes joining the 12 day 'Durga Puja' celebration of the great goddess in Kainchi, at an ashram in the foothills of the mighty Himalayas.

Whilst there, one of the party - Geraint, known for his great wit and acumen - will be sending back a diary that will be uploaded every few days, maybe even with a few photos also... So if you fancy checking in on our progress, please come back soon.

NEWLY AWARDED ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’ STATUS…
As many of you will know already, the Academy staff make up a small(-ish!) but very dedicated team who have worked together over a considerable number of years to try and create a truly world-class training in the healing arts. We feel that, in line with our holistic approach to all areas of our teaching practice, we also need to remain as holistic and as ethical as possible in how the school is run on a day-to-day level. We are therefore proud to be able to announce that we have just been given a ‘not for profit’ company status. Introducing dozens of students each year to the joys of true Holistic Massage should always remain our main motivation for staying in business – this way, it always will! 

NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM FOR THE ACADEMY OF NATURAL HEALTH 
On the first of September 2006, Katya Langmuur, Jackie O’Reilly and Karen Abi-Karam became the new owners and directors of the Academy of Natural Health.  After seventeen years of building, running and inspiring the Academy, Anja Saunders stepped down as principal and director of the school and company. 

Katya Langmuur becomes Course Director and Principal Tutor and will be supported with the management of the business by Academy graduates Jackie O’Reilly, a former management accountant and Karen Abi-Karam, a former marketing and PR consultant.

The new team aim to take the Academy to a new level of development whilst building on the holistic principles and foundations of excellence that have been laid down in previous years. 

Anja remains an important part of the teaching team at the Academy and will continue with her private practice in Covent Garden.


LOW COST HOLISTIC MASSAGE CLINIC
As part of our ongoing commitment both to offering the best possible training to our students and also to making a real contribution to the community about us, we are delighted to be able to offer a regular professional-standard student massage clinic. This is based at the therapy rooms attached to the studios in which we do much of our teaching, MovingArtsBase in Islington, London N1. Through the course of these clinics sessions, practitioner-level Academy students get the rare opportunity to experience for themselves what it is like to work as a professional massage therapist as an integral part of their training - and members of the public get to receive quality holistic bodywork at a fraction of what they would otherwise have to pay. Students receive supervision and support by submitting their reports from these clinics for evaluation by the Principal, but otherwise this clinic is run just as any other professional holistic massage session might be. Clinics are held on Sunday mornings from 10am – 2pm at MovingArtsBase, 134 Liverpool Rd, London N1 1LA. Each session last for an hour and costs £15 in total.

COMMUNITY HEALING CEREMONIES
The Academy is excited about its new initiative - Community Healing Ceremonies.

This is a group event whereby the participants consciously connect with the life-force of the Universe to bring about healing (meaning making whole) for a living being. This can be a person or a group of people, an animal, plant, place or thought form.

Community Healing Ceremonies are acts of love and make connections between people. They can be set up in all sorts of places for a variety of reasons. If you would like to participate in a Community Healing Ceremony or would like to discuss the possibilities of setting one up, please feel free to contact Anja Saunders. anja@fragrantfeathers.net
