WHAT IS THE
OPEN CIRCLE FUND?

The Open Circle Fund was created in February 2006 as a way in which selected students could come and study at the Academy who might otherwise not be able to afford to do so. For many years, the Academy has prided itself on the holistic approach that it applies to all aspects of the running of the school and so the establishment of such a bursary fund seemed a suitable cherry on its holistic cake! Furthermore, as so many of our students so vocally value the experiences that they have received as being part of the Academy family, it also seemed fitting that it should be primarily as a result of their efforts that a new generation of students should find their own place within the circle. And so one generation of Academy students welcome in the next. 

The monies for the scholarship have been raised as a combined result of the ongoing efforts Academy Satsang and the Academy Kirtan groups. If you would like more information on either and on how to get involved with them, please follow the links.

How Does the Open Circle Fund Work?

The Open Circle Fund is able to offer a 50% scholarship towards all fees for one student each academic year to complete training in the original holistic massage course. It is not designed to support participants on the postgraduate programmes and courses. In return for the bursary, the scholarship student offers a few hours each month in order to support the Academy. Apart from making the student a true part of the team, this effort serves to acknowledge the fact that the financial assistance is made possible in the first instance by the selfless service of staff and students over the course of the year. The scholarship student’s duties might include placing leaflets in outlets, assisting with basic administrative tasks in the office and so on.

 

How Can I Apply?

The 2007-8 Open Circle Fund has already been awarded and we are delighted that our recipient is well into her training with us.

If you might be interested in applying for the 2008-9 Open Circle Fund, please only contact the office after June 2008. They will send you an application form, which you should return together with a letter to our Principal, Katya Langmuur, explaining why you are interested in the award.

You will also be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
